Additional Metadata: Add Metadata

The Add Metadata page allows you to create new metadata items with the following option:

  • Metadata Label. This is the name of the metadata item. It is also the text of the field label that will show up on the Content Check In page when the metadata is applied to content.
  • Metadata Type. You have the option to choose if the field will be Text, Date, or an Integer field.
  • Enable Option List - Choice. If you choose Text as the metadata type you also have the option to choose an option list as part of the selection.
  • Enable Option List - Edit. If you choose Text as the metadata type you also have the option to choose an option list that is editable.

Remember that when you create new metadata items you are really creating additional fields for the Content Check In page. Remember also that in order for these items to become effective, they have to be associated with a Content Type and Subtype. These are not required fields but they have no use unless you fill them in.

The Actions and Add'l Actions Menu

The Actions and Add'l Actions menu has the following options:

  • Save. Saves the current metadata item.
  • Reset. Restores the original value of the Metadata Label field.
  • Content Types. Takes you to the Manage Metadata: Content Types page where you can view the list of Content Types.
  • Additional Metadata. Takes you to the Manage Metadata: Additional Metadata page where you can view additional metadata associated with the current Content Type and Subtype.
  • Date Notifications. Takes you to the Manage Metadata: Date Notifications page where you can view date notifications associated with the current Content Type and Subtype.
